Introduction to Archery Courses

From time to time we run an “Introduction to Archery” beginners course at the Christchurch Archery Club on Rawhiti Domain in New Brighton.  The course is typically run over four, two hour lessons held on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

During summer, the hours are typically from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Thursday evenings and 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday mornings. During winter, the hours are typically from 8:00pm to 10:00pm on Thursday evenings and 9:30am to 11:30am on Saturday mornings. We endevour to carry out as much of the training outside as possible, however whenever the weather or light is unsatisfactory, we will hold the sessions indoors at our club room.

These may occasionally be changed to suit coaches and/or archers.

The cost of the “Introduction to Archery” course is generally $160.00 for four lessons, this includes equipment hire and target fees for the duration of the course.

There will be a small amount of classroom information given and written material will be provided for everyone to read at their leisure.  The majority of the course is practical and shooting will be outside whenever possible.

Course content includes: Range safety, The 12 steps of shooting, types of equipment, basic tuning and bow mechanics, information about Archery New Zealand, the junior programme, joining the club and lots of shooting!

We will generally require a minimum of 6 participants to enable us to run the course.
